Privacy Policy

The short version. Your answers to the diagnostic and the report it produces are never sent to me and never leave your browser. The only personal data I ever collect on this site is your name and email address, and only if you choose to download your report as a file. If you would rather not give me those, use the copy button instead and take your report away with nothing asked of you.
Who is responsible for your data
This site is operated by Discover Humanity Group Ltd, trading as Seven Jacobs and Discovery Group, a company registered in England and Wales. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Discover Humanity Group Ltd is the data controller.

What this tool does not collect
The diagnostic runs entirely inside your web browser. That is a deliberate design decision, not a technical limitation, because the questions ask you to be honest about things people do not usually say out loud.
- Your answers to any of the 45 questions are never transmitted anywhere. They exist in your browser's memory while you are on the page and are discarded when you close or reload the tab.
- Your scores, your type, your position and the text of your report are generated on your own device and are never sent to me or to anyone else.
- Nothing you answer is stored in a database, written to a file on a server, or retained by me in any form.
- I cannot see your results. If you want me to know them, you have to tell me yourself.
- No account or sign-up is required to use the diagnostic or to read your report.
What this tool does collect
If you download your report
At the end of the diagnostic you can download your report as a file. To do that you are asked for your first name and your email address. Those two pieces of information are submitted to me. Your answers and your report content are not included in that submission and are not sent with it. The file itself is assembled in your browser and saved directly to your device. It is not emailed to you and it does not pass through any server.
I collect your name and email in order to know who is using this resource and to be able to contact you about it if I need to. The lawful basis for this is my legitimate interests in understanding and supporting the people who use my free resources. You can ask me to delete this at any time.
If you tick the newsletter box
The newsletter box on that form is unticked by default and is entirely optional. If you tick it, I will add you to my email newsletter, which covers confidence, self-discovery and emotional fitness. The lawful basis for this is your consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing me. If you leave the box unticked, you will not be added to any marketing list.
Technical information
When you submit the download form, my hosting provider may record technical information such as your IP address and browser user agent as part of handling the request and preventing automated abuse. This is standard for any website form. I do not use this information to build a profile of you and I do not combine it with anything else.
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. If visitor statistics are enabled on this site, they are provided by a cookieless service that counts page views without identifying individual visitors or storing anything on your device.
Who else is involved
I use a small number of third party services to run this site. Each one acts as a processor on my behalf and is bound by its own data protection obligations.

Some of these providers are based outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by the safeguards those providers have in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent standard contractual clauses.
I do not sell your personal data, and I do not share it with anyone for their own marketing purposes.
How long I keep it
Download form submissions are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted, unless you have asked for the newsletter, in which case your details stay on the newsletter list until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data I hold about you
- ask me to correct anything that is wrong
- ask me to delete your personal data
- ask me to restrict how I use it, or object to my using it
- ask me to transfer it to you or to someone else in a portable format
- withdraw your consent to marketing at any time, without affecting anything done before you withdrew it
To do any of these, email contact@sevenjacobs.com. I will respond within one month.
If you are not happy with how I have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Children
This tool is intended for adults. It is not designed for or directed at children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes to this policy
If I change how this tool handles data, I will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes to how your personal data is used will be made clear on the diagnostic itself.
